Ultranoir [Fin]

Started as an ambitious pop group UltraNoir got influences from shoegaze and post-rock to early eighties post-punk acts such as Joy Division and The Cure with shades of Sisters of Mercy or Bauhaus. These elements blended with political lyrics rather similar with acts like Crisis, PiL and Manic Street Preachers.

Right from the start UltraNoir's themes considered bleak visions of fascism, globalisation, social classes, sexism and existential complications of western moral codes over dreamy melody streams and laconic vocals. On the other side Anton's sentences bring out hope and struggling towards better.

As a statement the first Single Reach Me, Helen Keller (2006) brought out cruel dance tunes stitched to haunting synth lines and anti-escapist words reaching chart position #4 in Finland.Within years of touring and changing line-ups UltraNoir grew slowly closer to more danceable yet punkier ways. The Cureish guitars and long song structures of the debut album Suffer No Fiction dropped off while tempos gained more beats per minute.
