The Julia Dream [US]

The Julia Dream acknowledges the past and embraces the present in their combination of retro and modern styles. The result is a penetrating new sound marked by bass-driven grooves and lush guitar textures. Underscored by captivating vocal melodies, the band produces an atmospheric landscape of words and music. With songs flowing easily from energetic and upbeat, to dark and transient, listeners and critics alike find this dynamic band hard to resist.

Currently, The Julia Dream is supporting their first official studio release, "Above From Beneath" - a seven-song EP released in April 2007. The EP has been extremely well received by press, radio, and the group's growing fan base. The Julia Dream has spent the remaining months of the year expanding on their local success wih regional performances throughout the Southeast, and a fast growing internet presence worldwide.

Band members Vernon P. Love (lead vocals), Matt Spatial (bass guitar, backing vocals), Michael Jason (drums), and Sacha Alexander (guitar) come together on stage to present a must-see live performance, bringing the band's subtle blend of emotion-filled melodies, ambient guitar layers, and energetic rhythms to life.

Sea Dweller [Ita]

Sea Dweller is an unsigned shoegaze/dreampop band, lost into noise music and daydreaming psychedelic escapes. The band was formed in Rome, Italy, in early 2000 by core members Cristiano Carosi (vcls, gtr) and Paola Anna Victoria Mattarocia (bs, vcls), later joined in 2006 by guitarist Paolo Miceli (formerly My Violent Ego) and drummer Carlos Valderrama (Fitness Forever [EMI], The Goonies, Valderrama 5). Sea Dweller's music can be considered as a balance of ethereal guitar driven noise pop and loud climax crescendo, on the go of influences of Swervedriver, Swirlies, My Bloody Valentine, Slowdive, Cocteau Twins, Sonic Youth & friends. After three short tours in italy, one supporting Asobi Seksu (one little indian rec) and two with welsh post-punk act The Victorian English Gentlemens Club (fantastic plastic rec), an EP debut release entitled Underwater Town is due to January 2008, with single track Every Inch featured on compilation The Hi-Lo Tunez Plan: 8th Step .

Death By Kite [Dnk]

Death by kite
© 2007 quartermain

Emerging from the Copenhagen underground scene, hyped by a reputation of loud and manically introverted concerts and a sound that is a mesmerizing mix of popish, cathchy melodies soaked in a cocktail of noiserock and newwave, in April 2007 Death by Kite released their self tiitled debut-album. The trio, which, after a change in the beat section, now consists og Bjørn, Sidsel and Mikkel, has since then played numerous concerts, and has established themselves as a popular live act, and one of the best noisepop bands coming out of Scandinavia for years.

Soul Merchants [US]

Soul Merchants - Soul Merchants, smooch 017 (2007, CD)
(This two disc set features 40 songs from Soul Merchants recorded in between 1985-1987 on four track cassette tape. )

The Soul Merchants only existed for two years in the mid 80s but in that short time period recorded and released three albums, one double album, one EP, and appeared on a number of compilations.

The band is best described as they described it in the 80s: psychedelic death rock. On the surface and at the heart of it, the Soul Merchants could have been called Denver's version of the Sisters Of Mercy. But even in the 80s these guys were too old to be the new hip goth act and their 60s psych and 70s glam influences shine brightly over the darkness. Catchy pop hooks can be found in most songs too.

The Suncharms

Fans of Catherine Wheel should like this seeing as they were on the same label Wilde Club Records. Fans of Catherine Wheel should like this seeing as they were on the same label Wilde Club Records.

Sheffield's The Suncharms played a brand of indie guitar pop that was sometimes fast and thrashy, but at other times moodily atmospheric. They released two 12" singles on Wilde Club (the tiny label which launched the career of the Catherine Wheel). Their appearance at Sheffield Sound City (organised by Radio One) in 1993 was the last thing they did. Although there was no official split, the group didn't do anything after that event.
